Secondlife Reflection

Skoolaborate No Comments »

Over this fist school term of year nine I have been attending the class of which is known as special project. It is a supervised subject by Miss. Boshell, Mr. Chipps and the leader of the campaign, Mr.Groom. The main topic for this subject was to interact in a virtual world acknowledged as Second life.

For the topic of this virtual world we were assigned to undergo a series of tasks by the end of the term. Such as;
- We had to of Created a shirt for our avatar to wear and upload it onto the program
- By creating the shirt we were to use websites for templates of a shirt

- We were to produce the shirt by using Photo Shop

- We were to create a soccer pitch so that all online avatars can verse one another in the game of soccer

While I have been creating a life for my avatar on the virtual world of second life I had encountered with my friends through this game and also many other people from different countries. I have been interactively involved with this project for that at times it had been a great experience. I had especially enjoyed flying around the avatars world and engaging with new avatars, I had enjoyed using a new tool of the computer such as Adobe photo shop for that I had never used it before in my life until this project and I had found it is a cool and better and more advanced tool then paint.

The dislikes of this game for me was the lag effect of the game causing my avatar to stay frozen for more then 5 minutes. I had also had much trouble with the use of photo shop because at time I didn’t know what to do because I have been far more familiar with using the tool of paint.

Through the project of creating an avatar world, we had been announced that the money we make can be withdrawal from the game and into real cash in your hands and so, that had influenced my self to keep on creating many shirts that I can go and sell to the rest of the avatars in the world of second life.

After all the sum up to this terms project topic I have found that it had been a whole new experience for me and a new learning way of how to construct many objects through the tool of photo shop.

Answer the following questions on your blog:

1.) Give a brief description of who the Dalai Lama is? (Include resources to support)

The Dalai Lama is knwon to be the 14th (XIVth) dalai lama. He is also greatly known as Tenzin Gyatsu and he is acknowleged as the spiritual and tempoarl leader of the Tibetan people. He had been born into a peasant familyand had been recognised at the age of 2 years old. The Dalai Lamas are the manifestations of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, who chose to reincarnate to serve the people, They live up to many  commitments in their roles as the Dalai lama. 2.) Evaluate how the actions of the Dalai Lama in regard to the riots in Tibet would be regarded as exemplary moral integrity.

The actions of the the Dalai lama in regard to the riots would be regarded as exemplary moral integrity due to the fact of that he is willing to resign as tibetan leader if the situation became out of control in Tibet. He makes this large sacrifice for that he knows he can give the safety to all Tibetans, for that it is his role to keep Tibetans away from harm in the violence of the riots.

Watch the following clip on Maximillian Kolbe:

1.) Define the term ‘moral integrity’

The meaning of the term moral integrity to me is really about a person’s way of thining. Manny events or happening in ones daily life refer to making choices or actions. A person will think and act accordingly to what they believe is right or wrong

~ An Exapamle by Mr.Car of Moral Integrity ~
Well a student of Mr. Car has walked right passed him and he notice that a 5 dollar note could drop out of his pocket at any momment. Another student walks by the student with the money and walks right pass him with nothing to say to avoid the intention of him getting into trouble. Another student walks by the student with the money and watches from a distant to see if the note will ever drop. Before any of the students could react to this money he tells the owner that his money is going to drop any time, making the student realise to put his money away into his wallet. This example given by Mr.Car is an example of moral integrity because he had thought of the choices he could make and he chose the choice of acting accordingly to believe what is right by telling the student to keep his money in a safe place.

2.) Describe why Maximillian Kolbe is regarded as a Christian of exemplary moral integrity.

Maximillian Kolbe is regarded as a christian of exemplary moral integrity. This is stated because of the great things he has done. Maximillian Kolbe had been a catholic priest who was sent to Auschwits concentration camp for the reasons of being a journalist, a publisher and intellectual. Within the concentration camp Maximillian Kolbe had helped and comforted many in the camp even the less fortunate, he had also smuggled in bread for the masses he had and for the hungry, he undertook a priestly ministry and confessions , these acts he created within the camp were regarded the act of accordingly to what is believed to be right. Maximillian Kolbe had also chose to give up his life for another human who was sent to death. He had no relationship with the man none what so ever just as Jesus christ had done for all of us by dying on the cross.

3.) Outline Maximillians ethical actions/principles that he demonstrated in Auschwitz.

Maximilian’s completed many ethical actions/principals that he demonstrated in Auschwitz. He had comforted his fellow prisoners insisting that everything including sufferings came to an end and the way to glory was through the cross. He had undertook the task of moving the dead bodies of the tortured throughout his internment. He continued is priestly ministry hearing confessions in unlikely places and smuggling bread and wine for masses, he was conspicuous for those even less fortunate to him than himself. He had also gave up his life to another man who wasn’t even related to him at all.

4.) Evaluate whether you think he made the right decision and provide research to support your answer. i.e. Catholic teachings.

I believe that Maximilian had completely made the right choice for that he has not just saved an inoccent man and his family but he has saved many people and their families for that through the journey in Auschwits he has shown the ways our lord of how he has been a leader to all and he has taught everyone through the sacrifice he has made.

1.) Define the term ‘digital media’.

” Refers to any type of information in digital format including computer-generated text, graphics and animations, as well as photographs, animation … ”

‘Reference’^^ www.conferzone.com/resource/glossarycd.html

2.) How has digital media evolved over the last 5-10 years?

Digital media has evolved over the last 5-10 years by a huge amount, this is because technology has risen to extreme limits year by year through the technology of televisions, computers, newspapers, radio broadcasts, telephones and the internet. If we take a look back 10 years ago we would see the access of books from the library’s more than we see now. For that through the use of the internet we could easily contain the information that we need written in 60 pages of a book in just one click of the computer we gain the access to the related information from thebook. Therefore todays world of 2008 digital media has evolved dramatically to what the world has had 10 years ago.

3.) Discuss the reasons why digital newspapers are extremely popular?

Now a days The reasons for why digital newspapers are extremely popular is because each newspaper company has posted their newspapers of what they are selling on their home page giving access to all people to view the articles free from charge meaning no payment would be required at all.
