Science project 4 August 6th, 2008Fibre optic technology offers many advantages when used in medical applications.
Describe how optical fibre may be used in medical applications
Fiber-optic communications is based on the fact that light within a glass medium can carry more information over longer distances than electrical signals can carry in a copper or coaxial medium.
Identify the traditional medical techniques that optical fibres might replace.
Optical fibres will replace the use of copper wire for that they are thinner, cheaper and more durable than copper wire. They also can transmit more information.
Evaluate the benefits of fibre optic technology to medicine
Fibre optics will help doctors because if there was an untreatable tumour may be destroyed by a laser light sent down an optic fibre cable.
