1.) Describe the term ‘prototype’ and give reasons why it could be used.

A prototype is an original type, form, or instance of something serving as a typical example, basis, or standard for other things of the same category.

Reasons of why it could be used;

• in can be an example of the start to a new product such as a car
• it is used as an example of what is to come
• it can be use to show specific details of what is needed

2.) Discuss another industry other than the car industry that would use prototypes.

Industries that would use prototypes;

• engineering industry
• manufacturing industry
• Graphical designing industry
• boat industry
• plane industry

KEY CONSIDERATIONS A CAR DESIGNER MUST EXAMINE BEFORE DEVELOPING A DESIGN PLAN

Through the research Gathering of my research throughout the four provided articles there are some key considerations that a car designer must examine before developing a design plan.

Well first of all there should always be set criteria for designing a car. Its purpose for the designer to have a design criteria before he starts with his plan is because the designer of the automobile can have his own understanding of what he is set out to do, or what he is willing to achieve with great results an example of a design criteria was given within the information I had been given;

The VACC’s Tom O’Brien says the overall brief is to think creatively and expansively beyond the boundaries and limitations of today’s cars. The five main criteria are:
* what changes might we see in city, urban and regional transport environments in 2020?
* What changes might we see in vehicles? How will the cars of 2020 be powered?
* How will fuels, composites and technologies employed in the cars of 2020 vary from today’s cars?
* What effect will social and environmental challenges have on personal transport and transport infrastructure in the year 2020?
* How will the environmental impact of personal transport be minimised?

Another consideration for all car designer is to review all the hard files of his work such as reviewing all the sketches of the automobile, all the interior designs of the car thinking about is it what the new generation of car owners are wanting in their car?. And the car must also be fully safe with the road rules of all cars on the road.
