What CST and IST grade what you allocate yourself for this project? Justify your response.

the grade that I would allocate my self would be a B although would love to say an A but overlooking the project I believe that my group marks could have pulled me away from that I A I had wanted for that a usb had broke on the last day making my group unable to submit out work on time and also I believe our time managing skills had been poor at times for that when my group heard of the extension of the project they had begun to slack off and waited for the last minutes.

What could you do tonight that would improve your grade?

Well tonight I can improve on my grade by reading over the rubric and double checking that everything in the rubric is contained in our clip and I can also post up more forums and diigo bookmarks to lift up my grades.
What grade do you think your team will give you for teamwork? Why?

I believe that my group will give me a 5 out of 5 for teamwork for that I had been the one keeping the group together reminding people about due date setting tasks out and helping fellow group members with what they are unsure of.

Thinking about your presentation on Monday, what do you need to do to score an “A” grade? (hint: Look at the presentation skills). What could you do before Monday, to ensure you receive an “A”?

For the presentation on Monday I believe I have to understand the whole content of the topic of racism to be prepared to answer any questions thrown at me by the audience, and I also will have to keep constant eye contact with the audience during my presentation.

What influences your values about issues relating to your life?

Many things have influenced my values such as the media, my culture, my family, friends and many other things. The media had influenced my values because I always tend to hear and read a lot of media and I tend to believe on what it says from the different ranges of Medias such as television broadcast, radio broadcast and newspapers. The media has practically been my own personal dictionary to the events of life.

Do you ever compare images/values presented by the media to those of the bible? If so why? If not, why not?

At times it maybe yes and there is times when I don’t compare images/ values of the media to those of the bible. At times I do refer to the bible because I always think a lot and so when I see an act of violence or rape I always think how Jesus said that we should love one another and also your neighbour even if they have done wrong. But there are also times when I do not look and think of the bible because an article can get so interesting that you want to know more of the article and the bible just does not come into place when the article is being read.

Has this project challenged you to examine your values? Why / Why not

Yes this project has challenged me to examine my values because most of my values have been relied with the media giving me the answers to the wrongs and rights. Therefore it deals with things that may relate to us and be useful in the near future. And so I need to consider on my thoughts of my own values

How do you feel the media portrays social justice issues?

I find it at times a newspaper article can become misleading for that a reporter may write quotes or information that had been passed on by others and had been paraphrased by them ending up with a phrase that had been altered 10 times until it got to you leaving u with what can be true or false.

Has it been difficult to find articles on social justice issues why/why not?

Yes, for me I had found it hard to find articles on racism and especially finding multiple media types of one huge racial act.

Do you think that the media operates from a moral framework? Give evidence by using your research.

To some extent I believe that they do work from a moral framework, for instance a journalist job is to produce a report within a day so he doesn’t get fired and so the journalist only collect the information from the media of what’s been given to them and don’t even bother checking if the information collected is even true and so publishers are publishing the works of others that can turn out to be a misleading article meaning inaccurate.

1. Open and read the “How to write a critique” document in the resources menu.

Describe what is a critique.

A critique involves identifying critical things to say about an article and resisting the temptation to describe rather than analyse. By reading this, to critique is to be able to be reading an article of some sort and writing down the main points that are featured within the article. By dotting down the main points and messages of the articles topic we are able to summarize it into a short paragraph and a better understanding

2. Outline the FOUR stages in a critique.

  1. Introduction
  2. Summary
  3. Analysis
  4. Evaluation

3. Can a critique be positive? Discuss.

Yes a critique can certainly be positive. By saying this it is that at the end, you are to evaluate on the article by weighing up the positive and negative aspects. A critique can either be negative or positive or even both.

4. Critique the accuracy of the following articles:

The Beijing Olympics: Are they a Trap?
The video The Beijing Olympics: Are they a Trap? Presented by, the onion news network. This video piece speaks of how the billions of dollars and hours of work to the building of the Beijing Olympics could possibly just be a trap for the American athletes.

From their thoughts of satellite images the reporters believe that the Chinese are digging large holes which they say is specifically for the Olympics. But not only saying that the reporters believe that they are going to be covering these holes with branches and leaves and hope the American athletes will fall into the hidden holes. The reporters had also reported that the Chinese had been trained as weapons of mass destruction to destroy all our American athletes.

The reporters of the onion network do not supply their report with believable evidence but just stories which may possibly have been just rumours. Through the report they continue to criticise the Chinese without giving any real evidence to support their findings.

The story is very funny and is simply found as a comedic act to amuse the public and the information of the topic The Beijing Olympics is simply not true and no evidence was found at all to create this report to seem reliable at all.

2-Year-Old Donkey Called Up To Pro Donkey Basketball League.
The video 2-Year-Old Donkey Called Up To Pro Donkey Basketball League by, the onion news network. This video speaks of how a donkey has been reviewed by scouts to come and play for the mid western basketball league

The reporters report that Scraps (the donkey) whom had been playing in 5 different fundraiser events before being chosen to step up his basketball game and move a grade higher for that he had been chosen by the scouts of donkey basketball.

From the reporters work they have provided had been evidenced such as footage and in game statistics had been shown. But overall this story is seen as false and exaggerated for that a small charity can’t turn into a league association and scouts and media, it is false.

This story is found very amusing and exaggerated for that there is video evidence of footage of the donkey basketball fundraiser but it is completely made up by having a donkey move up the leagues ranks and become professional. Overall the 2-Year-Old Donkey Called Up To Pro Donkey Basketball League report is false and simply a comedic act.

1. Name the issue.
The issue is racism

2. Describe one media account of this issue.
The media was reporting about the racism issue raised during a football game when the opposing team had criticised a boy by naming them “little black c. . .”. Parents soon became involved by taking part of this matter and going further by blowing off. While football clubs and official took this to further matter to investigate further into the situation.

3. Where did you get this media account from?

This media account was taken from the daily telegraph website . here is the provided link; http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,,23911066-5001021,00.html

4. Is this media account correct or reliable? Why?
I believe that the media account is correct and reliable for that it had been written in the perspective of the time being some sort of reporter interviewing everybody and getting their saying and publishing it how its said. But there may be some sort of false writing within the article for that the publisher may of edited bits of what was there to say. But all in all it is a fairly reasonable article.

5. Where else might you be able to find more information about this issue?
More information can be found about this issue through out the internet, other newspaper sites such as smh.com, and also on live news broadcastings such as today tonight.

1. Describe TWO things that you have learnt during this lesson.

Through the lesson today we had a talk about our new project briefcase and we learnt what it required us to do and I also learnt who is going to be in my group through the next project. The briefcase required us to host a show, media watch on our current social justice issues today. In my group there is Francis Tobias and Mark Espinola there is also Anthony Aziz but he will not be present through out this whole project.

2. Identify TWO areas you want to concentrate on during this project that you think need a greater improvement from the last project.

During this project I would like toi concentrate on my time management skills so I can be able to always be organized and ready to hand in work on time. I would also like to have the skill of always referring to the rubric so I can obtain all the set out marks.

3. Discuss TWO ways in which your group could resolve any disputes during this process.

We can resolve all of our disputes by setting out a good group contract so all the rules can be set out from the beginning of the project until the end. Another way we can resolve all our disputes is by giving each other a chance to say what they want to say and any comments can be given back.
