Elizabethan Society

The Elizabethan society was the time in history of when Queen Elizabeth I had reigned and also when talents of English literature had been noticed by others, for that such playwrights such as William Shakespeare, had been recognised as part of the era for their contributions towards helping create the English language.

The Globe Theatre

The Globe Theatre was built in 1599 .The Globe theatre had been a extremely huge part to William Shakespeare for that many of his written plays had been performed there to thousands of people. On the date of June 29, 1613 a tragic incident had happened which was that the globe theatre had been burnt down to the cause of the fire, about a year later the globe theatre had been rebuilt so that more plays could be debuted there. In the later years a modern version of the theatre had been built and is now called ‘Shakespeare’s globe’.

The king Chamberlains men

The king’s chamberlain’s men is known for what Shakespeare had played and worked for practically his whole life. The plays had all consisted of male sex types so for that reason men had acted as females. The year 1603 was known for them to be London’s best acting companies. It was proven that plays had started for the whole public to see the performance.

The Tempest Overview (modernised version)

The story is about three brothers on a boat from Italy when their fourth brother uses his powers by demanding Ariel to create a wave making them lost in see forever for that the brothers had stole the throne from their demanding brother. The play then is about Ariel seeking Ferdinand to be in love with Miranda, and so once they meet each other they encounter love at first sight and then the word is spread around that Miranda and Ferdinand had got married. And Ariel had been set free.

Tragedies, Comedies & Histories

Shakespeare’s plays all had been made to have a suitable category for whether it was to be a tragedy, comedy or either a history. Tragedies in plays are plays that have twist and turns making the play to have a dramatic effect at the end. An example of one of Shakespeare’s tragedy plays were Romeo and Juliet. Comedic plays are completely different to tragedy plays for that it is full of laughter and definitely going to make the audience laugh and example of this through Williams plays would be A comedy of errors. Histories are plays which act out past events. So it could act out a war, a battle or even a lifetime, like Shakespeare’s ‘Henry VI’ did.

Relevance to the 21st century

Shakespeares plays are still importannt to us in todays society for that his plays had contained many similarities between a character of the play and todays people.
